About Me

I am thrilled to introduce myself as the owner of Honeysuckle Child and Family Counseling and welcome you fondly as a client.

As a Licensed Professional Counselor and Registered Play Therapist with nearly 15 years experience, I specialize in helping children, adolescents, and their caregivers navigate through some of life's most difficult emotional and behavioral challenges. My clients and their caregivers often find me friendly, relatable and easy to talk to and my first goal and top priority is for you and your child to have a warm and positive relationship with me. From this strong foundation, it is then easier to work on social, emotional, and behavioral goals using a variety of evidence based treatments. I take a prescriptive approach to treatment planning, which means I work with you and your family to come up with strategies that work best for your unique needs. Whether it is play therapy, parenting support, or navigating a complicated mental health challenge, you can expect an empathetic, practical, and targeted counseling experience at Honeysuckle CFC.

My interest in counseling began at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where I graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Psychology in 2008. Deciding to pursue a career in the field, I attended the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and earned a Masters Degree in School Counseling with a Graduate Certificate in Play Therapy in 2011. Family changes happily brought us to Dallas in 2019 where I could continue practicing clinical counseling with children, teens, and families. Since obtaining my degree I have worked in the school setting, community mental health, and in outpatient hospital clinics (Novant Health in Charlotte, North Carolina and Cook Childrens in Fort Worth, Texas), giving me a wide variety of experience to support your family.

In my practice, I have worked with a large variety of clinical needs including but not limited to:

  • Trauma

  • Adjustment and/or familial changes (ex: moves, divorce, and illness)

  • Grief

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • Parenting support

  • ADHD

  • OCD

  • ODD

  • Anger outbursts

Please see my Contact page for information on scheduling a consultation call to determine if I would be a good fit for you and your family.
