Frequently
Asked Questions

How often will my child or myself attend therapy sessions?

Typically, therapy visits begin on a weekly or biweekly schedule. It is difficult to develop rapport and work on goals if appointments are spread out too far. This can also make therapy less effective. As we start to see progress on therapy goals, visits can be spaced further apart. Conversely, if your child ends up needing more frequent appointments this can also be discussed and changed to suit their needs.

What do your credentials mean?

The credential “LPC” means Licensed Professional Counselor. LPC’s must have fulfilled the requirements made by the licensing state to obtain these credentials and be able to legally practice counseling (such as passing a licensing board exam, completing a valid Master’s program, and maintaining educational requirements biannually). Many different credentials (such as LCSW and LMFT) allow providers to practice therapy in the state of Texas. The credential “RPT” stands for Registered Play Therapist. This credential means that the holder has a valid counseling credential and has fulfilled additional requirements to formally specialize in play therapy such as formal education hours, supervised practice in Play Therapy, and maintaining professional education requirements.

How long can I expect for my child or myself to be in therapy?

The length of time in therapy that a client needs is dependent on many factors. When you begin therapy, we create a treatment plan with the goal in mind of your child or family eventually not needing us anymore! With this said, there should be regular, open, and honest discussion around progress towards completion of therapy. In sum, therapy ends when you and your child meet goals or decide for it to end.

How do I get started?

Reach out to me on the contact form and I will return your inquiry within 24-48 business hours with options for setting up a free consultation call. During this time, we can briefly discuss your concerns and whether Honeysuckle CFC will be a good fit for your needs. We also can discuss availability or wait times as this can vary.

Do you do telehealth therapy?

Honeysuckle CFC does offer telehealth visits. Telehealth is a convenient option for many types of therapy appointments such as parent-only sessions, sessions with teens or mature tweens who can communicate effectively and clearly, or our initial assessments. In other circumstances, telehealth may not be effective such as with young children who need a more hands-on approach, individuals that may struggle to focus, or those that struggle to communicate verbally. If you are interested in telehealth appointments, I am happy to discuss this with you further at our consultation or initial assessment.

Do you accept insurance?

No, Honeysuckle Child and Family Counseling does not accept insurance as an in-network provider. I can provide you with a detailed receipt of the services provided, known as a superbill, that you may file with your insurance; however, I cannot guarantee any amount of insurance reimbursement.
